About The Position

The optometric technician assists the optometrist by conducting pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination, helping keep patient flow efficient and supporting quality patient care. The role includes completing paperwork, explaining preliminary examinations, promoting eligible vision tests and screenings, and maintaining the doctor’s office and testing equipment. No optical experience or certification is required; training is provided. The position is part-time and bilingual in Spanish and English. The location is closed on Sundays.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform tests before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs; consult the optician, Doctor, or Retail Management when necessary.
Ensure the Doctor’s and pre-test equipment are properly maintained.
