Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant - Part Time - Bilingual Spanish
About The Position
The optometric technician helps keep patient flow efficient by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the Doctor’s examination. The role conducts vision tests that support the optometrist in providing patient care. No optical experience or certification is required; training is provided. The position is part-time and requires fluency in reading and speaking both English and Spanish. America’s Best locations are closed on Sundays. The technician ensures high-quality patient care, prepares patients for preliminary examinations, completes paperwork, performs tests, and promotes eligible visual field testing and retinal screenings. The role also reviews prescriptions and patient information, identifies special needs, and consults with the optician, Doctor, or Retail Management when needed. The technician helps maintain the doctor’s office, pretest room, and equipment.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality patient care.
- Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
- Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
- Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
- Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
- Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
- Perform exam pre-screening.
- Review prescriptions and patient information carefully and identify special needs.
- Consult with the optician, Doctor, or Retail Management when necessary.
- Ensure the Doctor’s and pre-test equipment is properly maintained.
