About The Position

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is hiring an optometric technician to support patient flow and assist the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before the doctor’s examination. The vision tests performed by the technician help the optometrist provide patient care. Optical experience or certification is not required; training is provided. The stores are closed every Sunday. The role involves providing high-quality patient care, preparing patients for examinations, completing paperwork, performing preliminary tests, and maintaining the doctor’s office, pretest room, and equipment. The technician also communicates with patients and coordinates with the optician, doctor, or retail management as needed.

Responsibilities

Ensure high-quality patient care.
Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance in the doctor’s office and pretest room.
Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
Complete necessary paperwork and perform testing before the doctor’s examination.
Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
Perform exam pre-screening.
Carefully review prescriptions and patient information and identify special needs.
Consult with the optician, doctor, or retail management when necessary.
Ensure doctor’s and pretest equipment is properly maintained.
