About The Position

The Optometric Assistant, also described as a Visionworks Clinical Specialist (CS), is the face of the Exam Practice and helps ensure a positive patient experience. The role involves knowledge of eye health, preliminary testing, optics, products and services, and managed vision care. The assistant guides patients through the initial steps of their Visionworks experience and helps meet their eye exam needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent related job experience.

Nice To Haves

• Related customer or patient experience is preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate patient records before conducting preliminary testing.
• Introduce patients to the optometrist (OD) and provide the OD with important patient information.
• Transition patients from the doctor to the sales floor and give associates information needed to educate patients and recommend products and services that meet their eye care needs.
• Carry out day-to-day operational tasks supporting exam-lane maintenance and patient experience goals, including restocking inventory, cleaning equipment, and answering phones to address additional patient needs.
