Requirements

  • Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, Modus, MCOSMOS, PolyWorks, or similar.
  • Experience with laser tracker systems such as API, FARO, Leica, or similar.
  • Experience assembling and aligning optical test sets for precision measurement work.
  • Experience operating interferometers in a production or lab environment.
  • Experience using hexapods or other motion systems to run established routines and support alignment-sensitive work.
  • Familiarity with common sources of measurement variation such as temperature, vibration, setup instability, and fixture influence.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and run CMM inspections for standard and moderately complex jobs using released inspection routines and plans.
  • Independently set up and perform laser tracker measurements for large hardware, tooling, and alignment verification activities.
  • Assemble and align optical test sets to defined requirements using released procedures, hardware lists, and reference features.
  • Operate interferometers to collect wavefront or surface data per released instructions and verify setup readiness before data collection.
  • Execute hexapod routines provided by Optical Engineering and verify that the system is in the correct state before and after routine execution.
  • Perform troubleshooting of metrology setups and results, including setup stability, target placement, datum alignment, line-of-sight issues, repeatability concerns, and obvious data anomalies.
  • Maintain clear and complete documentation of setup conditions, hardware identifiers, configuration status, and measurement results.
  • Escalate suspect results, setup issues, or routine execution problems with sufficient detail to support efficient resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement of setup practices, work instructions, and test readiness within the assigned area.
  • Review job requirements before setup and identify likely configuration, alignment, or measurement risks that should be addressed before data collection begins.
