Optics Content Writer
About The Position
B&H is looking for Optics Content Writers to craft product descriptions, research products, and update the B&H website with new and accurate product information for pro audio and audio-adjacent products and categories. Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about the current state of optics (binoculars, telescopes, rangefinders etc.) and outdoor equipment in general, specifically relating to the latest gear, industry trends, and unique accessories. Candidates should have a working knowledge of pro and consumer level optical equipment and how it can be used in applications such as in birding, sport optics, astro and more. Candidates should be able to explain how different types of gear can be matched to different levels of professional users and enthusiasts. A Content Writer will ideally have specific knowledge and insight on a broad range of topics, such as: Comparisons between brand offerings, What beginner and experienced birders look for when shopping for binoculars, An understanding of current telescope technology and what features are unique or desirable in a crowded astronomy market, General optics and equipment needs for hunting and other sporting applications. Typically responsible for less-complex, more common items within the Optics category. This level will handle research, writing, corrections, and updating of common optics accessories along with maintenance of aging descriptions of more popular products. All Optics Content Writers should have personal hands-on experience using various optical equipment to form an inherent knowledge base for talking about gear. Successful writers will have in-depth knowledge of a range of optical equipment an understanding of modern technology and how it can benefit different users. B&H is looking for candidates who are excited about optics, have a strong working knowledge and unfettered curiosity, and would like to share information on gear and process with others.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of photography and related industry practices
- Strong writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
- Personal hands-on experience using various optical equipment
Nice To Haves
- Education or similar experience in relevant field
- Sales/retail experience preferred
