About The Position

Dynamic Planning & Response LLC (DP&R) is building a candidate pool for anticipated future contract work providing optician services at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System. Employment is contingent on the Government awarding and funding the contract; no offer or position start will occur before then. If awarded, the contract is anticipated to start in early January 2027, with one base year and up to four option years at the Government’s discretion. Final offers are contingent on a favorable VA background investigation and completion of VA onboarding requirements. The Optician measures, fits, dispenses, verifies, and repairs eyeglasses for Veterans at VA optical shops across Hawaii. The role fills prescriptions written by VA Optometry and Ophthalmology providers, tracks eyewear orders through fabrication, and serves as the Veteran’s main point of contact for eyewear. Opticians do not enter or create prescriptions; VA licensed optometrists or authorized designees do that. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last patient at 3:30 PM. There is no work on the 10 federal holidays unless approved in advance. The VA may request occasional extended hours or Saturdays. Travel expenses for the traveling position are covered by DP&R. The position is performed onsite in VA optical shops. For the traveling position, inter-island flying about twice a month and independent work at remote clinics are required.
