About The Position
The Optical Inspector will be part of the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) team, responsible for producing advanced weapon and sensor technology using state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities. This role involves performing various inspection operations during the fabrication of optical elements and assemblies, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain security clearance.
- Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Computer skills, knowledge of blueprints, mechanical aptitude, knowledge of basic inspection tools.
- Optics inspection experience or Optics - Manufacturing experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience measuring scratch/dig defects
- Experience with using interferometer
- Optical coatings experience
- Experience reading and working from engineering drawings
- Previous inspection experience
Responsibilities
- Inspecting in-coming raw glass and optical elements for dimensions, clear aperture, and other specifications.
- Inspecting optical/mechanical sub-assemblies and assemblies for proper fit, bonding, and surface quality.
- Using equipment such as interferometers, micrometers, and optical comparators to perform measurements and tests.
- Documenting non-conforming hardware and preparing paperwork and records.
