About The Position

At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we are dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence. We are looking for skilled Welders to join our team. This role involves performing MIG welding, executing production tasks according to specifications, handling materials, inspecting welds, maintaining equipment and workspace, and ensuring quality control. The position also requires assisting in other areas as needed to meet production demands.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in MIG welding within a manufacturing environment or equivalent technical schooling is required.
  • Basic oral communication skills; ability to read and understand written instructions in English and complete basic logs and reports in English.
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull, and position heavy components as required.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and adhere to company timekeeping and all other policies.
  • Ability to consistently stand for the entire duration of the shift in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Flux Core welding is a plus.
  • Familiarity with grinding tools, drill presses, and ironwork is advantageous.
  • General mechanical knowledge is beneficial.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team player.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and reliability in all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding to join metal parts, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Follow process sheets, blueprints, or verbal instructions from the supervisor to complete production tasks accurately.
  • Maneuver large or heavy parts manually or with the assistance of a crane, as required.
  • Inspect welds throughout the process for quality, using grinding tools as necessary to achieve desired finishes.
  • Keep machines and work areas clean and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets predetermined tolerances and standards.
  • Assist in other areas or departments as assigned to meet production needs.
