About The Position

ETC is hiring Optical Engineer Interns for summer 2027. This is an on-site position in the Middleton, Wisconsin office. Assignments may involve lens design and analysis, illumination design, colorimetry, photometric testing, and image-quality assessment for entertainment or architectural LED lighting fixtures. Work may also involve quality assurance and manufacturing, supporting existing fixtures, or contributing to new lighting fixtures in development. The intern will become familiar with tools and software used by the R&D department, including Zemax and SolidWorks. Applicants should submit a resume and transcript with their application.

Requirements

• Working toward a bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or a related field.
• Junior or senior year standing, or completion of relevant Optical Engineering courses.
• One to two years of post-high-school education in the area of specialization.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform optical testing of ETC fixtures.
• Participate in development efforts.
• Assist with design modifications or improvements.
• Develop test and verification procedures.
• Support continuing engineering maintenance and manufacturing-floor support of existing products, as assigned.
• Provide estimates for task completion times.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
