SubCom’s Newington Optical R&D group seeks a summer intern for applied, experimental optical research. The group works on topics ranging from fiber-optical amplifier design to factory automation. The intern will pursue one of several research opportunities, discussed after hiring, with projects ranging from fundamental research—including literature research, computer simulations, and laboratory experiments—to recipe and workstation verification and qualification. The intern will work independently while collaborating closely with members of the Optical R&D group. By the end of the summer, the intern will have gained knowledge of subsea fiber-optic communication and optical research skills. SubCom engineers, manufactures, deploys, and maintains subsea fiber-optic data cables that support global communications. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification is required at hire, and visa sponsorship is unavailable. Applicants must attach a resume to be considered.
