About The Position

The Computational Microscopy Imaging Laboratory (CMI Lab), within the Department of Medicine, is seeking a highly organized and dependable OPS Research Assistant to support multiple ongoing federally funded research initiatives within the laboratory. The incumbent will assist faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students with computational pathology, biomedical imaging, and spatial omics research activities. Responsibilities include supporting computational image analysis, data organization and quality control, software testing, visualization of research data, scientific documentation, and general laboratory research support while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and researchers.

Nice To Haves

  • B.Sc. degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with image analysis, computer programming using Python and R, and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with digital pathology, biomedical imaging, or spatial omics data analysis.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git) and scientific computing tools in a Linux or Windows environment.
  • Experience with scientific data visualization and preparation of figures for presentations or publications.
  • Graphic design experience and the ability to create visual materials or research graphics are desirable.
  • Demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence, computational pathology, biomedical imaging, or related research areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation, organization, and processing of biomedical imaging, digital pathology, and spatial omics datasets for research projects.
  • Support computational image analysis, data annotation, and quality assurance activities using established software tools and laboratory workflows.
  • Perform routine data entry, file organization, and documentation to support ongoing research studies.
  • Conduct quality control checks on imaging and research datasets to identify inconsistencies, missing information, or formatting issues.
  • Assist with maintaining standardized data organization, documentation, and research records to support reproducibility.
  • Organize research files and assist with maintaining laboratory documentation and project records.
  • Assist with testing and validation of laboratory software tools, image analysis workflows, and web-based visualization applications.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of established computational workflows under faculty and research staff supervision.
  • Assist with organizing research outputs and maintaining shared project resources.
  • Assist with literature reviews, preparation of figures, presentations, progress reports, and manuscript materials.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and research staff on assigned projects.
  • Provide general research support for ongoing federally funded laboratory activities.
