About The Position

The Bureau of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well-organized individual to provide natural resource project management assistance and support. Projects include natural community or hydrologic restoration, imperiled species monitoring, invasive species control, prescribed fire, and cultural resource protection. This position will be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. This position assists in organizing, tracking, managing tasks, and ensuring the success of natural resource management projects across all Florida State Parks. Projects include, but are not limited to: natural community restoration, invasive species management, prescribed fire, and imperiled species management.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of Florida natural communities and associated land management activities
  • Knowledge of Native and invasive flora and fauna of the Southeast
  • Knowledge of Project tracking principles
  • Knowledge of Resource management related data collection and mapping
  • Knowledge of Office and administration procedures
  • Knowledge of Biology, botany, geology, or other related earth sciences/ natural areas management principles
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Word, and Office 365
  • Skill in Adobe Acrobat
  • Skill in Tracking and managing data using online databases
  • Ability to Collect, organize, evaluate and analyze data
  • Ability to Prepare correspondence and administrative reports
  • Ability to Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to Coordinate and correspond with Florida Park Service field staff
  • Ability to Understand and apply regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to Learn job-specific software programs and technical skills

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of verifiable related experience in natural resource management. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Bureau staff with project management tasks (e.g. reviewing and creating project scope of works and maps)
  • Assisting with research and collection permitting
  • Tracking and managing data
  • Providing quality control/review of resource management related documents
  • Conducting project site-visits
  • Assisting with implementation of statewide resource management trainings
  • Preparing, uploading, and distributing reports as needed
  • Participating in regular project update calls and virtual meetings
  • Performing other related natural resource tasks as required
