About The Position

This position is assigned to the Operations and Management Consultant II to perform chair-side assistance to the dentist. This position requires close interaction between patients, the dentist, and other dental staff. The ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism and confidentiality are key components of this position. The assistant must be competent in assisting with preventive, therapeutic and surgical clinical procedures (i.e. dental prophylaxis, dental sealants, dental restorations, and dental extractions).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certificate.
• Florida Dental Radiography Certificate.
• Certification in Basic Life Support.
• Skilled in placing dental sealants.
• Skilled in assisting the dentist.
• Skilled in working independently.
• Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Must be willing to accept the salary of $19/Hour.
• Must be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate from a formal accredited dental assisting school.
• Six months dental assisting experience.
• Understanding of dental operations.
• Understanding of compliance and quality requirements related to the provision of dental care services.
• Demonstrates success working with the dentist.
• Experience with pediatric patients.
• Experience sterilizing instruments.
• Experience assisting dentist with dental procedures.
• Experience exposing dental x-rays.
• Experience instructing patients in oral hygiene instruction.

Responsibilities

• Perform chair-side assistance to the dentist.
• Assist with preventive, therapeutic and surgical clinical procedures (i.e. dental prophylaxis, dental sealants, dental restorations, and dental extractions).
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Expose dental x-rays.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene.
• Perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days.
