About The Position

This is a full-time Other Personal Services (OPS) position with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry. The role is responsible for various administrative tasks supporting the Fruit Fly Detection Program and other related activities.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and five (5) years of administrative or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which equals five (5) years can substitute for the above requirements; or a bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of administrative experience; or a master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing reports related to the Fruit Fly Detection Program activities.
  • Communicating with field staff regarding accessing and entering data into the Electronic Trap Reporting and Accounting Program (eTRAP), including onboarding new employees.
  • Responding to customer service inquiry tickets and forwarding them to local supervisors for follow-up as needed, tracking and closing tickets upon completion.
  • Assisting with disseminating FFD trapping supplies provided by the Fruit Fly Coordinator’s office.
  • Recording all Quality Assurance activities, maintaining accurate records of fly recoveries, and following up with the appropriate supervisor regarding fly status.
  • Maintaining and ordering supplies, including office and technical supplies, and processing purchase orders and transactions.
  • Processing travel reservations and reimbursements through the electronic travel system for the Fruit Fly Coordinator and other personnel during emergency programs.
  • Contacting employees to receive state vehicle logs and/or associated backup timely, tracking routine vehicle maintenance needs, and maintaining a list of up-to-date vendors.
  • Tracking Fruit Fly Identification Class participants and reserving meeting space.
  • Assisting the Fruit Fly Supervisor with hiring activities.
  • Performing other related duties as required by management.
