About The Position

This position is responsible for implementing and operating a self-sufficiency program at AHA for families receiving rental subsidies. The Self-Sufficiency Case Manager will carry a caseload of 25-30 families, working with them to identify goals, increase earned income, build assets and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Key initiatives focus on advancing family financial wellness, establishing actionable pathways to homeownership, and building resident leadership. Additionally, the Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency Case Manager will facilitate and support active Resident Councils at two designated properties, ensuring resident voices guide community programming and property-level engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience delivering goal-oriented case management, financial coaching, or resident services within housing or community settings.
  • Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed communication, person-centered goal setting, and maintaining professional boundaries in community-based work.

  • Meet with participants in person, frequently conducting home visits, meeting at on-site AHA property offices, or connecting at accessible community locations to remove participation barriers.
  • Partner with participating families to apply creative, strengths-based problem-solving strategies as barriers arise, helping them adjust action steps and stay on track toward their self-sufficiency goals.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to empower families to move toward self-identified goals.
  • Implement internal program policies, participant expectations and milestone tracking from intake through graduation.
  • Maintain clear, transparent, and consistent policies regarding access to the savings incentive program, ensuring participants understand requirements, balance tracking, and withdrawal criteria for asset-building milestones.
  • Administer participant goal plans and track milestone achievements, earned income growth, and savings incentive/asset-building activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely participant records in Resident Connect, including case notes, community referrals and participant program involvement and progression toward individual goals.
  • Cultivate community partnerships with local financial institutions, housing counselors, and workforce resources to deliver site-based financial wellness, credit building, and homeownership readiness opportunities across all family properties.
  • Utilize Resident Connect to log workshop participation, track participant attendance and record outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary advisor and liaison for active Resident Councils at two designated properties, supporting resident leadership, community programming and property-level engagement, while collaborating with ECHO staff to bring relevant programming and supportive services to residents.
  • Utilize Resident Connect to track Resident Council attendance, engagement metrics, and leadership development across designated properties.
  • Collaborate with the broader ECHO team to assist with departmental events as needed, including supporting commodities distribution and community building events.
