About The Position

Apogee is seeking an OPIR Training & Analytic Liaison Analyst to support the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) mission at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. The role develops and delivers phenomenology-based advanced target analytical training for OPIR systems and serves as an analytic liaison between NASIC/GSP analysts and external development partners. It bridges intelligence operations and technical development so analysts have the knowledge and tools needed for mission success. The position is contingent upon contract award. The analyst designs, develops, updates, and delivers training programs and curricula covering PIR phenomenology, sensor operations and capabilities, OPIR exploitation techniques, analytic tradecraft, and evolving threats. Training may be classroom-based, virtual, or hands-on, and is tailored to analyst skill levels. The role creates realistic exercises, scenarios, case studies, and assessment methods, mentors analysts, gathers participant feedback, evaluates training effectiveness, and refines materials based on outcomes and emerging needs. The position also supports use-case and user-story development for analytic tools and capabilities. It works with analysts to document and validate operational workflows and requirements, establishes clear and testable user stories, and collaborates with development teams on requirements, workflow design, prototypes, and user interfaces. As a liaison between NASIC/GSPM and NGA/Q development efforts, the analyst represents the analyst community, translates operational needs into technical requirements, facilitates coordination, and supports integration of NASIC ISR capabilities into Air Force ISR systems and operational structures.

  • At least 3 years of experience in imagery or sensor-based analysis, training, or operational support.
  • Familiarity with PIR/OPIR missions, data, and analytic processes.
  • Strong instructional and briefing skills.
  • Ability to translate analytic needs into clear, actionable user stories.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update training materials on PIR phenomenology, sensor capabilities, and analytical techniques.
  • Design and deliver advanced analytic training programs focused on PIR/OPIR exploitation techniques and methodologies.
  • Create comprehensive curricula, presentations, exercises, case studies, and hands-on labs, updating content for evolving threats, sensor capabilities, and analytic techniques.
  • Tailor and conduct classroom-based and virtual training for NASIC/GSPM analysts at different skill levels.
  • Facilitate practical workshops using real or simulated data and provide mentoring and coaching to analysts.
  • Create realistic training scenarios based on mission requirements and develop methods to assess analyst proficiency and training effectiveness.
  • Collect participant feedback, measure training impact through pre- and post-training assessments, track performance improvements, and refine materials based on results and lessons learned.
  • Work with analysts to identify, document, validate, and prioritize operational use cases for new analytic capabilities.
  • Create and refine user stories that capture analytic requirements, include clear acceptance criteria, are testable, and can be refined with development teams.
  • Advise software development teams on analytic workflows, operational context, mission requirements, and user needs.
  • Review development prototypes and mockups from the analyst user perspective and provide feedback on tools and capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between NASIC/GSPM analysts and NGA/Q development organizations, facilitating communication and coordination.
  • Represent analyst interests and requirements in joint development planning and translate operational needs into technical requirements.
  • Support integration of NASIC Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities into Air Force ISR systems and operational structures.
