This role is responsible for patient care within an ophthalmology or optometry setting. The technician will room patients, collect assessment data, and administer medications and perform other patient care procedures as directed. They will assist physicians during treatments, testing, and examinations, including procedures like retinoscopy, refractometry, A/B scans, photography, fluorescein angiography, corneal/disc topography, and visual fields. The position also involves maintaining patient flow, providing patient and family education, documenting patient care, handling telephone inquiries and triaging patients, and following up on patient care as needed. Chart review and participation in Quality Assurance initiatives are also key aspects of the role.
