About The Position

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking an ophthalmologist to join other faculty in its new veterinary program and teaching hospital. The selected candidate will be integral in developing the ophthalmology service within the new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, which also accommodates other specialty departments. The role involves providing comprehensive ophthalmology care, teaching and evaluating DVM and veterinary technology students, interns, and residents in a clinical setting, and didactic teaching of ophthalmology concepts. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in small animal oncology through completion of a residency program and be board-eligible or board-certified in ACVO or ECVO. These positions are open-rank, with eligibility for appointment at Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor roles, either in a clinical or tenure track, based upon qualifications and professional goals. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Completion of an ophthalmology training program with board-certification (or board-eligibility), ACVO or ECVO.
  • Currently licensed in or eligible for licensure in NJ.
  • NJ CDS permit or obtained upon hire.
  • DEA registration or obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmology care in the clinical setting.
  • Teach and evaluate DVM and veterinary technology students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting.
  • Provide didactic teaching of ophthalmology concepts within the pre-clinical years.
  • Develop the ophthalmology service housed within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
