About The Position

Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM) is expanding its faculty and seeks applications for a faculty appointment in Osteopathic Principles & Practices (OPP) / Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM/OMM). This role involves contributing to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the OMM curriculum across the four-year program. The faculty member will teach in pre-clinical and clinical OMM, provide instruction in skills training and osteopathic manipulative treatment, participate in curriculum design and evaluation, engage in scholarly activity, and serve as a mentor to medical students. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a new medical school and shape the education of future osteopathic physicians.

Requirements

  • D.O. degree from an accredited osteopathic medical school
  • Demonstrated history of academic teaching and assessment in medical education
  • Minimum of three years of teaching and academic leadership experience in an osteopathic medical school
  • Full-time teaching experience at the discipline or department level in higher education
  • Documented success in teaching and directing clinical sciences courses
  • Active medical license
  • Board certification in NMM/OMM through ABMS or AOA
  • Comprehensive knowledge of osteopathic principles and practices
  • Understanding of osteopathic medical education standards and competency-based assessment
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and safety protocols
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with educational technologies and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Canvas)
  • Ability to manage multiple academic responsibilities and maintain confidentiality
  • Commitment to collegiality, professionalism, and collaborative academic culture
  • Flexibility to support departmental and institutional needs as assigned

  • Completion of faculty development or graduate training in education management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaches in the pre-clinical and clinical OMM curriculum for OMS I–IV
  • Provides instruction in skills training, competency development, and osteopathic manipulative treatment
  • Participates in curriculum design, assessment, and program evaluation
  • Engages in scholarly activity, including research, presentations, and contributions to the academic community
  • Supports departmental initiatives and contributes to the academic mission of the school
  • Serves as a mentor and role model for medical students, promoting the values and philosophy of osteopathic medicine
