About The Position

The Ophthalmic Technician supports ophthalmologists by performing preliminary eye examinations, assisting with diagnostic testing, and ensuring smooth patient flow within a fast-paced eye care clinic. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting overall clinical operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certification (required)
  • Strong proficiency in spoken, written, and reading English
  • Excellent communication and patient interaction skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary vision and diagnostic testing, including visual field assessments, ocular motility, color vision testing, and intraocular pressure measurements
  • Conduct pupil evaluations for size, equality, and reaction prior to dilation
  • Prepare patients for examinations and accurately obtain medical and personal history documentation
  • Coordinate patient flow and assist with scheduling additional tests, imaging, and procedures
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients while addressing questions and concerns
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps, keratometers, and tonometers
  • Clean, stock, and maintain examination and laboratory areas
  • Sterilize instruments and assist physicians during minor procedures, laser treatments, and surgeries
  • Support ophthalmologists during clinical examinations and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
