Ophthalmic Technician (Full-time)
About The Position
LIND Eyecare & Optical is hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Technician in Kearney, Nebraska. The technician prepares patients for eye examinations, performs preliminary and doctor-requested testing, and assists optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures. The role also supports scheduling and patient flow, maintains exam rooms, instruments, medications, and supplies, and helps provide a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming office environment. The position requires sustained standing and other physical activities, including stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing. It is classified as light work and involves regularly lifting up to 15 pounds from floor to waist, 5 pounds from waist to shoulder, and 5 pounds from shoulder to overhead. Visual acuity is required to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
Requirements
- Ability to perform sustained standing, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing.
- Ability to perform light work and regularly lift up to 15 pounds from floor to waist, 5 pounds from waist to shoulder, and 5 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining the features and benefits of preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all preliminary tests and any tests requested by the doctor.
- Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, communicating delays appropriately.
- Prepare exam rooms by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and inviting environment for patients and staff.
- Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead and doctor(s).
