About The Position

Northwest Eye is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician for their Golden Valley clinic. This role involves performing diagnostic testing and work-ups as delegated by the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and instill patient confidence. The position works closely with children and requires 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. While based in Golden Valley, some travel to other Northwest Eye Clinic locations (Crosstown, Maple Grove, St. Anthony, Wayzata) is necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Optometry or ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • JCAHPO certification preferred.
  • Contact lens experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations.
  • Conduct history taking, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, and tonometry.
  • Assist with office procedures.
  • Perform contact lens insertion and removal (I&R).
  • Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit.
  • Open and close exam rooms, ensuring all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor.
  • Stock all necessary supplies.
  • Inform patients of the purpose of all tests performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
