We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in delivering excellent patient care, works well in a fast-paced clinical environment, and collaborates effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. The Ophthalmic Technician plays an important role in assisting ophthalmologists with the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of eye conditions. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, obtaining accurate medical and ocular histories, performing diagnostic testing, documenting clinical findings, and helping ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.

Requirements

Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment, terminology, testing, and diagnostic procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification or equivalent certification is preferred.
At least one year of ophthalmology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct preliminary eye examinations, including measuring distance and near visual acuity.
Refraction
Obtain and document the patient’s chief complaint, medical history, ocular history, medications, and other relevant clinical information.
Prepare patients for examination by the ophthalmologist.
Perform ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures, including tonometry, visual field testing, OCT imaging, and other testing as directed.
Educate patients regarding eye conditions, medications, procedures, and postoperative or follow-up care.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with applicable medical standards and regulations.
Sterilize, clean, and properly maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment for patients, families, physicians, and staff.
Monitor clinical supplies, equipment, and forms, and notify the appropriate personnel when supplies need to be reordered or equipment requires cleaning or repair.
Follow all infection-control, patient-safety, and facility-safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with physicians and other team members to support efficient clinic operations and seamless patient care.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
