About The Position

Our growing retina practice is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, friendly, and reliable ophthalmic or optometric technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced clinical environment and has strong attention to detail. This role offers meaningful clinical experience in a physician-led retina practice where technicians gain exposure to advanced imaging, procedures, and hands-on patient care, rather than repetitive intake-only work. We see patients three days per week, with administrative and preparation work on Mondays and Fridays. Our team values collaboration, professionalism, and providing excellent patient care. Carolina Macula and Retina is a specialty ophthalmology practice focused on treating complex retinal conditions and helping patients protect their vision. Requirements

  • 1+ year experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician preferred
  • Experience with efficient workups, EMR documentation, and diagnostic imaging
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to learn and develop additional clinical skills
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Retina experience is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with OCT and fluorescein angiography preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient workups including visual acuity, IOP, patient history, and medication review
  • Scribe in EMR during patient visits
  • Assist with OCT and diagnostic imaging
  • Assist the physician with intravitreal injections, lasers, and minor procedures
  • Support patient flow and ensure a smooth clinic experience
  • Cross-train in insurance authorization or front desk support when needed
