About The Position

Incredible Emerald Eye Center, Inc. is seeking a full-time or part-time Optician for its fast-paced, independent ophthalmology practice, which has a growing on-site optical dispensary. The role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality service, manage the optical dispensary, and contribute to its profitability. Duties may be added or changed by the company at any time.

Requirements

Appropriate certifications and/or licensure, with 1–2 years of on-the-job training or apprenticeship.
Experience with VSP, EyeMed, and other vision plans.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Excellent mathematical knowledge to monitor sales.
Ability to sell and satisfy customers' needs.
Knowledge of checking vision plan eligibility and billing VSP, EyeMed, and other vision plans.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred; vocational school is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Perform visual acuity tests, visual field tests, and ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including autorefraction, OCT, and fundus photography.
Measure customers for eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
Shape or reshape frames as needed.
Prepare work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers.
Assist clients in selecting frames based on style and color and ensure they coordinate with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments.
Check vision plan eligibility and bill VSP, EyeMed, and other vision plans.
