About The Position

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will assist ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals in diagnosing, treating, and managing eye conditions. You will work in a state-of-the-art facility and collaborate with the eye care team to support a positive patient experience. The position is based in Glenview and Lake Bluff, Illinois, and includes some travel to other locations with flexible hours to meet operational needs. The schedule is 40 hours per week: Tuesday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Monday until 7:00 p.m.

Requirements

Diploma or vocational degree, or high school education.
Ability to travel to other locations as needed and work flexible hours to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

Perform preliminary eye examinations and assessments, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil reactions, and visual fields.
Obtain detailed patient medical histories, including eye-related complaints, medications, and relevant health information.
Administer ophthalmic tests and procedures, including tonometry, keratometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, and pachymetry.
Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations, surgeries, and laser treatments, helping patients remain comfortable and informed about procedures.
Educate patients on eye care procedures, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and proper contact lens or eyeglass use and care.
Maintain accurate and current patient records, documenting assessments, test results, and treatment plans in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Perform routine maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and ensure it is in proper working order.
Assist with sterilizing and preparing surgical instruments and equipment for eye surgeries.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care services.
