The Ophthalmic Technician provides clinical support by performing diagnostic testing, assisting with patient evaluations, and maintaining exam room readiness. This role involves direct patient care, including taking vitals, patient history, and managing phone messages under the supervision of a provider or clinical supervisor. The technician will accurately collect and document medical and ocular history in an electronic medical record and perform a variety of ophthalmic tests. Responsibilities also include preparing and stocking exam rooms, sterilizing instruments, performing basic equipment maintenance, upholding infection control and patient safety protocols, transporting patients, and optimizing patient flow through administrative and clinical duties.
