About The Position

Georgia Eye Partners is a specialty eye care practice in Metro Atlanta providing general and complex medical and surgical eye care, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal and refractive care, LASIK, oculoplastic surgery, and aesthetic procedures. The Ophthalmic Technician I assists ophthalmologists and optometrists by gathering information about patients’ ocular health and performing clinical tests. The role requires a solid understanding of the theory and principles of eye care, gained through formal education and/or clinical experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent years of related experience preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
Perform testing ordered by the doctor, based on the exam scheduled, patient complaint, and/or patient history.
Act as a medical scribe during physician examinations and enter data into electronic medical records.
Take ocular and systemic histories and accurately record visual acuity.
Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure proper informed consent is obtained.
Assist with patient education.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
Comply with practice procedures and protocols and applicable state and federal regulations.
Report inventory and supply needs to leadership in a timely manner.
Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as required.
Report potential or suspected errors to a supervisor or Compliance Officer.
Contribute to team efforts by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
Maintain a positive attitude, cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
