Responsibilities

• Administration of IV procedures in a safe and accurate manner
• Inject Fluorescein dye and ICG I.V. for angiography test
• Infuse Visudyne IV prior to photodynamic laser treatment
• Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons
• Coordinates the Master surgery schedule for Charleston Hospitals
• Responsible for scheduling ophthalmic surgery at Hospital and Surgery Center
• Advises patient of procedure and risks involved with the procedure
• Obtain medical and surgical history to schedule pre-operative exam and surgical clearance with the patient’s primary care physician, specialist physician(s), and Preadmission Testing
• Perform pre-operative teaching
• Review and obtain informed consent for applicable procedures
• Schedule procedures and admission with respective hospital departments
• Obtains lab results of testing ordered by our physicians
• Review with physician and contact patient with results
• Provide consultation to patients over the telephone after speaking to physician and appropriately document in NexTech
• Coordinate specialty pharmacy shipments for patients’ appointments
• Follow up on delayed shipments and resolve any shipping issues
• Responsible for taking call on a regular rotation as assigned
• Accepts direction from supervisors or physicians and adheres to established routines
• Functions within the legal limits of nursing practice
