About The Position

The Operator performs a variety of operational tasks for ongoing projects, including moving materials around the yard and warehouse using forklifts and mobile crane equipment. The role includes receiving and loading out materials, handling loads safely, and following instructions from the foreman while applying initiative and judgment to determine movement procedures. The operator also follows guidance from other workers’ signals while ensuring it is safe to do so. The position is safety sensitive and requires heightened awareness and adherence to safety protocols to protect the employee and others. It is located onsite in New Iberia, Louisiana. The estimated starting rate is $23.50.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; education may be substituted by extended experience.
• General knowledge of fabrication tools and parts.
• Four years of experience with related equipment.
• Crane operation certification, which may be obtained on the job.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of operator work and other tasks related to ongoing projects.
• Operate forklifts and mobile crane equipment to move material around the yard and warehouse.
• Use knowledge of spreaders, slings, and chokers, including their strength and placement on loads.
• Lift, move, and place loads while protecting employees, materials, property, and equipment.
• Assist with receiving and load out.
• Follow general instructions from the foreman while using initiative and judgment regarding movement procedures.
• Follow signals from other workers only when it is safe to do so.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
