About The Position

The Operator is a general laborer who assists with production operations for Metal Source. This physically demanding role involves working a 12-hour rotating shift: work 3 days, off 2, work 2 days, and off 3 days. Shifts run either 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. The starting wage is $20.00 per hour, with wage increases every six months. Employees are eligible for a monthly attendance bonus and a weekly production bonus starting on day one. Regular, timely attendance and following the 5S foundations for lean production tools and processes are expected.

Requirements

• Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
• A forklift license is required; on-the-job training and licensure will be provided.
• Effective communication skills.
• A team-player attitude.
• Eagerness to learn and grow with the company.
• Ability to adhere to the company attendance policy.
• Ability to talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, lift, and climb stairs.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Ability to operate machinery and assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work, including making general observations of facilities.
• Ability to work around temperature changes, dust, dirt, and extreme noise.

Responsibilities

• Assist with furnace operations.
• Identify materials.
• Load materials into furnaces.
• Rake out furnaces.
• Skim sow.
• Stack ingots.
• Clean rims at some locations.
• Weigh material.
• Operate mobile equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Crew Supervisor.
• Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.
• Maintain regular and timely attendance.
