About The Position

Avantor is seeking an Operator at its NuSil site in Carpinteria, California. This full-time position supports manufacturing for the healthcare, aerospace, and biotech industries. The Operator works with a diverse team to operate and maintain production equipment, support packaging and material-handling activities, maintain production records, and help ensure safe, compliant, and quality-focused operations.

Requirements

1–2 years of experience in packaging or distribution.
Demonstrate mechanical ability.
Critical decision-making skills, creativity, and multitasking ability.
Willingness to multitask and be flexible.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Experience in a chemical plant.
Understanding of or familiarity with cGMP and RCRA training.

Responsibilities

Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion; operate it safely and efficiently and comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
Set up production lines and keep them running according to production schedules and work orders.
Understand line and pump configurations; clean and inspect lines and perform line changeovers as needed.
Perform pre-startup equipment inspections and ensure items that fail checks are addressed.
Keep manufacturing areas clean and organized.
Maintain accurate production records.
Collaborate with Supervisors and Maintenance Personnel to resolve equipment setup and operational issues.
Work with the QA Department to understand, recognize, and rectify quality issues; stop the line and notify QA if a contamination event occurs.
Perform the duties of both a packaging operator and material handler.
Manage hazardous and universal waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation.
