About The Position

Kokosing is hiring an Operator Trainer to train and support the development of heavy equipment operators, promoting safety, productivity, and quality in the field. The role's home base is in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, supporting a local construction project. Most duties are performed in the field, with time spent observing and mentoring operators and collaborating with management, office associates, educators, and vendors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience as a construction industry operator.
• Membership in good standing in the Operating Engineers Union.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Skill in dirt-moving equipment and techniques.
• Knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations and guidelines.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Train new operators to develop and improve equipment operation skills.
• Help experienced operators keep their operating skills and training up to date, including awareness of new techniques and methods.
• Build and maintain working relationships with operators, mechanics, superintendents, management, Local Unions, trade schools, and the skilled craft community.
• Recommend operator placements to management to benefit both the company and the operator.
• Inspect equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ensure operators understand proper equipment processes and report deficiencies or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Monitor equipment use to ensure it remains within rated capacities.
• Help identify and hire qualified operator candidates for Kokosing.
• Communicate needed repairs to support timely repair.
