About The Position

Freshpet is hiring a Sanitation Operator to disinfect surfaces and sanitize food production and processing equipment while helping prevent unnecessary waste along the assembly line. The role involves cleaning and maintaining equipment and production areas, supporting food safety and sanitation programs, and following established procedures. The position pays a base rate of $21.70 per hour plus a $3.00 night-shift differential, for a stated total rate of $24.70 per hour. The work requires 12-hour shifts on a rotating seven-day schedule in a cold, wet environment at approximately 40°F.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and follow procedures and accurately complete paperwork related to sanitation activities.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and stand, walk, bend, and stoop throughout 12-hour shifts.
• Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness and ability to cross-train on all sanitation responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Food manufacturing sanitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble machine parts, equipment, and other areas.
• Monitor and adjust chemical cleaning usage.
• Work with the QA department on pre-operational inspections.
• Assist in driving training initiatives for sanitation procedures with production.
• Remove waste and debris.
• Assist with the weekly environmental program and the master sanitation program.
• Assist with startup and shutdown of machinery and production-line equipment.
• Follow relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
• Ensure food safety standards, including GMPs and the HACCP plan, are followed by self and fellow employees.
• Follow safety procedures for lockout/tagout and exposure to hot equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Manually lift and transport unfinished product during production.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
