About The Position

The Operator, Production reports directly to the Supervisor, Production (Shift) and is a member of a multi-disciplined crew responsible for the operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility, including LNG ship loading activities and emergency response. The incumbent is expected to follow instructions and conduct his/her duties and/or activities in a safe manner within the LNG facility. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures is essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant.

Requirements

• Basic to working knowledge of plant operating procedures, safe handling practices, equipment, maintenance protocols, governmental regulations, related technical and safety codes, standards, and reporting requirements.
• Understanding plant rules and guidelines regarding relevant equipment, operations, and certification requirements.
• Basic to general working knowledge and understanding of Human Machine Interface (HMI) panel and general process plant systems (utilities, inlet feed gas, amine systems, dehydration systems, flare systems, storage and loading, and other process areas etc.).
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and possess the personal characteristics of integrity, accountability, and dependability.
• An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
• Able to follow directions with the ability to quickly formulate effective communicated questions if clarification of an assignment is required.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor process operational problems.
• Possess a general understanding of the job role within the Permit to Work System.
• Ability to identify any unsafe acts and hazards in the workplace.
• Able to apply existing skills in new roles and/or environments.
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite, along with an aptitude for learning new software applications and systems, such as, basic Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) applications.
• Able to use key features of relevant software to perform job duties.
• Ability to understand basic process controls including flow, pressure level and temperature logic systems and process diagrams (piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s), process flow diagrams (PFD’s)).
• Willingness and ability to cross-train to learn new jobs and skills.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Plant process experience ranging from one to eight (1-8) years in related industry (Petro-Chemical/Refinery/Cryogenic).
• General understanding of field operational experience in startup/shutdown and preparation of field equipment for maintenance.
• Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Nice To Haves

• Formal education in related technical discipline, engineering discipline, or related military training/experience is desirable.
• Experience with electrical and Gas Turbine driven compressors, experience with LNG or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids or related military training /experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DOT, FERC, OSHA, USCG, and other governing organizations as applicable.
• Performs duties of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility operator for area assigned in a 12-hour daily rotational shift environment, including holiday, weekends, and nights.
• Must be able to take call-in requirements and work overtime as needed.
• Operate plant utilities including electrical power systems, air, water, sanitation, nitrogen, fire water system.
• Operate plant process area, to include inlet gas, amine, dehydration and cryogenic/liquefaction systems, refrigerant compressors and turbines, storage and loading systems including storage tanks, jetty operations, and LNG ship loading.
• Provide routine maintenance and security tasks when operation schedule permits.
• Monitor and record instrument readings of gas volumes, temperatures, flows and pressures to ensure safe operation and quality product. Report deviations from standard to ensure that corrective action can be taken.
• Ensure completion of all Company-provided training on the several types of equipment in an LNG facility, to include training on environmental safety, operations, and security procedures.
• Operate the facility recognizing the safety and environmental consequences of actions taken.
• Achieve the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
• Record and evaluate operating performance data. Inform Shift Supervisor and/or Senior Operator of potential problems and/or failures in a timely manner.
• Work with Shift Supervisor and/or Senior Operator to expeditiously resolve plant problems and improve plant reliability and safety.
• Perform all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.
• Coordinate housekeeping activities in areas of responsibility to eliminate safety hazards and maintain a clean working environment.
• Inspect safety devices in area assigned, verify their placement, test their operational status to establish their hazard/incident detection and warning capabilities to prevent fires and accidents. Report all issues detected or incidents immediately upon inspection/testing of safety devices.
