About The Position
The Operator – Packing supports daily production and packaging operations in a rice pudding manufacturing environment while maintaining food safety, product quality, and employee safety standards. The role works closely with Leads and Supervisors to meet production schedules efficiently and accurately. Operators work in a team-oriented environment and must communicate, pay attention to detail, and adapt to different packaging processes, machines, products, and packaging types. Duties may include production, packaging, sanitation, and general labor tasks as assigned. The Operator follows applicable food safety, quality, safety, regulatory, and plant hygiene requirements. Job duties may vary according to operational needs, and not all tasks are performed continually or regularly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to attend work predictably and regularly and be punctual; a good attendance record is required.
- Ability to read and understand documents and instructions presented in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and deal politely and professionally with plant inspectors and coworkers.
- Ability to perform several tasks at once and follow directions or instructions.
- Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds; physical requirements state the ability to lift 50–60 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stretch, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to perform frequent moderate physical activity, including repetitive standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, grasping, climbing, reaching, and moving about the facility.
- Hearing ability sufficient to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements.
- Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Ability to work in a multi-shift environment.
- Ability to work around spices and meat ingredients as part of daily activities and in cold conditions (40º).
Responsibilities
- Perform production, packaging, sanitation, and general labor duties according to established food safety, quality, and safety standards.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with packing rice pudding products by placing containers on lines, filling, sealing, labeling, coding, and boxing finished goods.
- Verify packaging materials and labels contain the correct product information, lot codes, and dates.
- Monitor product weight, appearance, and packaging integrity; remove and report defective or nonconforming products.
- Load, unload, and move product, packaging materials, and supplies throughout the production area.
- Immediately report mechanical issues, safety hazards, or quality concerns to Leads or Supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, wiping down equipment, disposing of waste, and following sanitation procedures.
- Follow required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and plant hygiene requirements.
- Support food safety, employee safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance within the scope of job responsibilities.
