This role involves safely operating locomotives and trains within a customer facility, including the make-up and break-up of unit trains. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the preparation of paperwork associated with railcar movements. The successful candidate will actively participate in safety programs, including routine safety meetings, and must understand and adhere to rail rules prescribed by Savage, the customer, and the railroad. Daily contact with fellow team members and Savage leadership is expected, along with frequent interaction with customers, railroad personnel, and regional/unit leadership. The role also includes assisting with minor facility maintenance as necessary.
