About The Position

This position involves operating various spiral loom machines to produce high-quality wire belting products. The role requires inspecting the quality of wire belts to meet customer specifications, utilizing measuring tools like calipers and tape measures, and performing basic math calculations. Operators are expected to complete common setups on machines, diagnose and build products using work orders with limited supervision, and support the team in continuous improvement efforts. The role also includes adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE and maintaining a neat work area. The Finisher role involves welding, cutting, fitting, and performing simple machining tasks on various metals, with progression opportunities from Finisher I to Finisher II based on skill and experience with specific job types and welding specifications.

Requirements

  • Able to operate a variety of products across various spiral loom machines to produce high-quality wire belting products at the standard rate required for production.
  • Able to inspect the quality of various types and sizes of wire belts to match customer requirements.
  • Able to maintain quality standards by monitoring product appearance and appropriate specifications.
  • Able to utilize calipers as required to ensure specifications are met.
  • Able to perform required quality checks and record quality information on the work order.
  • Able to make equipment adjustment following appropriate work instructions.
  • Able to report quality problems to engineering and supervision.
  • Willing to support the team in all efforts towards continuous improvement.
  • Capable of using measuring tape, calipers.
  • Able to use math with fractions, decimals, and multiplication/addition.
  • Able to complete common setups across various spiral loom machines.
  • Able to diagnose and build products using work order with limited supervision.
  • Able to support the department by performing other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required.

  • Cuts, fits, and welds metal using gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Utilizes a variety of machines such as saws, torches, plasma cutter, grinders, and drills to complete work safely and effectively.
  • Performs skilled welding on a variety of metals including but not limited to heavy gauged steel.
  • Able to do mid and Tig type welding.
  • Perform simple machining tasks.
  • Perform all general skills responsibilities (Finisher I).
  • Ability to clean and prepare surfaces to be welded (Finisher I).
  • Weld metal parts together as specified by manufacturing order (Finisher I).
  • Complete a visual assessment of quality requirements (Finisher I).
  • Understand how to cut mesh and punch holes (Finisher I).
  • Perform all general skills and Finisher I responsibilities (Finisher II).
  • Able to complete at least 50% of chain jobs (Finisher II).
  • Able to weld small specifications (Finisher II).
  • Able to complete a filter belt manufacturing order (Finisher II).
  • Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions.
  • Attend required EHS training.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place.
  • STOP WORK when imminent danger is present.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
