About The Position

This position involves operating spiral loom machines to produce high-quality wire belting products. The role progresses through three levels, with increasing responsibility for machine setups, troubleshooting, and training. The Finisher role includes welding and metal fabrication tasks, also with progression through different levels. Both roles emphasize adherence to quality standards, continuous improvement, and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to use measuring tape, calipers, and able to use math with fractions, decimals, and multiplication/addition.
  • Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions.
  • Attend required EHS training.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations.
  • Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place.
  • STOP WORK when imminent danger is present.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures including lifting techniques and limits (Finisher).
  • Understand the welding process between Left and Right Hand (Finisher).
  • Understand the set-up process of the equipment (Finisher).
  • Cuts, fits, and welds metal using gas and electric welding equipment (Finisher).
  • Utilizes a variety of machines such as saws, torches, plasma cutter, grinders, and drills to complete work safely and effectively (Finisher).
  • Performs skilled welding on a variety of metals including but not limited to heavy gauged steel (Finisher).
  • Able to do mid and Tig type welding (Finisher).
  • Perform simple machining tasks (Finisher).
  • Ability to clean and prepare surfaces to be welded (Finisher I).
  • Weld metal parts together as specified by manufacturing order (Finisher I).
  • Complete a visual assessment of quality requirements (Finisher I).
  • Understand how to cut mesh and punch holes (Finisher I).
  • Able to complete at least 50% of chain jobs (Finisher II).
  • Able to weld small specifications (Finisher II).
  • Able to complete a filter belt manufacturing order (Finisher II).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of products across various spiral loom machines to produce high-quality wire belting products at the standard rate required for production.
  • Inspect the quality of various types and sizes of wire belts to match customer requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards by monitoring product appearance and appropriate specifications, utilizing calipers, performing quality checks, recording quality information, making equipment adjustments, following work instructions, and reporting quality problems.
  • Support the team in all efforts towards continuous improvement.
  • Complete common setups across various spiral loom machines.
  • Diagnose and build products using work orders with limited supervision.
  • Perform other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required.
  • Maintain and promote Fenner Precision Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times.
  • Complete all of Level 1 Operator responsibilities (for Level 2 and 3).
  • Mastery of a large variety of setups across various spiral loom machines (for Level 2).
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems impacting product quality without supervision across the majority of products (for Level 2).
  • Diagnose and build products using work orders with no supervision (for Level 2).
  • Embrace flexibility within daily responsibilities and be willing to support however needed most (for Level 2).
