Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend simple English instructions; interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • The noise level in the work environment may be loud and require hearing protection.
  • Special care must be taken when working with or around microbes and chemicals.
  • Must be able to work in 80 to 100-degree temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating equipment associated with drying products according to established procedures as well as overall cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas.
  • Comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value.
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
  • Operate and manage E Dryer equipment
  • Maintain and operate all equipment in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or others and demonstrate safety as a top priority
  • Assist with equipment set-up in processing room; set up and perform mid-week & weekend cleanup; assist with parts and floor washing in processing area
  • Frequently retrieve and tag samples of sanitizing water for lab testing
  • Watch and control flow of product
  • Must be able to assemble and disassemble machinery; take lines apart using wrench and wash pipes
  • Demonstrate safety as a top priority; follow all safety procedures and avoid all accidents; actively determine ways to improve safety.
  • Minimize product loss
  • Complete internal HACCP training
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Reports all Food Safety & Quality issues to a Supervisor, QA Manager, or at Senior Manager.
  • Keep work area neat. Clean and sanitize all dryer equipment after use
  • Use appropriate safety equipment when required (ear plugs, rubber boots, safety glasses, face shields, aprons, bump caps, etc.) Use lockout/tag out procedures when required
  • Report all work-related injuries or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately
  • Follow instructions from supervisor and cooperate with coworkers and other departments; be willing to fill in where needed
  • Maintain good personal hygiene
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Assume personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporate safety and health in all jobs/tasks, and actively determine ways to improve safety
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
