About The Position

Rich’s, a family-owned food company, is seeking an Operator - Cutter/Flipper for Shift 1 at their Brunswick facility. This role is responsible for preparing frozen cheese on assigned production lines, ensuring products meet quality specifications and production needs. The position contributes to the company's profitability by performing tasks safely, efficiently, and with a focus on quality and cost-consciousness, while maintaining a cooperative team environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 - 3 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum lifting requirement is 20 pounds, from approximately 6 inches off the ground to up to shoulder height.
  • Maximum lifting requirement is up to 65 pounds over the same distance and occasionally above shoulder height, depending on job assignment.
  • Punctual and reliable in their work attendance.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Applies all safe work practices associated with these tasks.
  • Works in a safe manner always.
  • Applies all GMPs requirements, both personal hygiene and housekeeping, associated with these tasks.
  • Always keeps work area clean, in line with plant procedures on housekeeping, wastewater, and solids management.
  • Applies all product safety and quality requirements associated with the process at assigned positions.
  • Identifies product or processing problems on an on-going basis and determines if solution is within his/her training and knowledge; if so, corrects problem; if not or if not sure, communicates to appropriate person for solution.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with Team Leader and other managers, and co-workers.
  • Resolves problems and conflicts in an acceptable manner that shows respect for the other person(s).
  • Works to understand overall impact of his/her job on team productivity and plant profitability; maintains high level of personal productivity and contributes suggestions for work process improvements.
  • Severe allergic reaction to food material (cheese, flour, baking soda, baking powder, phosphates), cardboard (or its dust), latex (used in gloves), or chlorine would preclude a person from performing the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare raw cheese products that meet quality specifications and production needs.
  • Ensure correct raw materials are brought to the line and notify Fork Lift Driver if incorrect materials are present.
  • Set up all equipment for proper operation.
  • Operate pallet jack or forklift equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assist maintenance mechanics with preventive maintenance and report any operational problems or maintenance needs.
  • Perform physical tasks involved in the position, including prepping raw material to keep up with line demands.
  • Remove plastic from cheese and inspect each block before grinding.
  • Safely operate pallet jack or forklift for prepping and staging raw cheese product.
  • Sweep food debris from the floor, collect it, and place it in the proper waste container.
  • Dispose of paper, plastic, and cardboard materials into the correct trash containers.
  • Transport trash carts or waste carts to the proper disposal area.
  • Use a low-pressure water hose to wash food debris down drains, adhering to plant policies.
  • Use a rubber squeegee to push water off the floor towards floor drains.
  • Track all cheese tags used for production records and record them on batch sheets.
  • Take accountability of raw cheese on the plant floor at the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Understand the mechanical functions of equipment used in the grinding process.
  • Understand how to assemble and disassemble all cheese room equipment.
  • Safely open cheese blocks with knives and stack raw cheese on tables.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
