About The Position

Rich’s, a family-owned food company, is seeking an Operator - Cutter/Flipper at its Brunswick facility. This role is responsible for preparing frozen cheese on assigned production lines to meet quality specifications and production needs. The position contributes to the company's profitability by performing tasks safely, efficiently, and with a focus on quality and cost-consciousness, while maintaining a cooperative work environment. The specific assignment within the cheeseroom will depend on operational needs and the individual's physical capabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 - 3 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum lifting requirement is 20 pounds, from approximately 6 inches off the ground to up to shoulder height.
  • Maximum lifting requirement is up to 65 pounds over the same distance and occasionally above shoulder height, depending on job assignment.
  • Punctual and reliable in work attendance.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Applies all safe work practices associated with these tasks and works in a safe manner always.
  • Applies all GMPs requirements, both personal hygiene and housekeeping, associated with these tasks. Always keeps work area clean, in line with plant procedures on housekeeping, wastewater, and solids management.
  • Applies all product safety and quality requirements associated with the process at assigned positions.
  • Identifies product or processing problems on an on-going basis and determines if solution is within his/her training and knowledge; if so, corrects problem; if not or if not sure, communicates to appropriate person for solution.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with Team Leader and other managers, and co-workers. Resolves problems and conflicts in an acceptable manner that shows respect for the other person(s).
  • Works to understand overall impact of his/her job on team productivity and plant profitability; maintains high level of personal productivity and contributes suggestions for work process improvements.
  • Severe allergic reaction to raw cheese, other ingredients used in processing (e.g., flour, baking soda, baking powder, phosphates), cardboard (or its dust), latex (used in gloves), or chlorine (used as a food and surface disinfectant) would preclude a person from performing the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare raw cheese products that meet quality specifications and production needs.
  • Ensure correct raw materials are brought to the line and notify Fork Lift Driver if incorrect materials are present.
  • Set up all equipment for proper operation.
  • Operate pallet jack or forklift equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assist maintenance mechanics with preventive maintenance and other requested maintenance tasks.
  • Perform the physical tasks involved in the specific position.
  • Prep raw material in advance to meet line demands.
  • Remove plastic from cheese blocks and inspect each block before grinding.
  • Operate pallet jack or forklift safely when prepping and staging raw cheese product.
  • Sweep and dispose of food debris into the proper waste container.
  • Dispose of paper, plastic, and cardboard materials into the correct trash container.
  • Transport trash or waste carts to the proper disposal area.
  • Use a low-pressure water hose to wash food debris down drains, adhering to plant policies.
  • Use a rubber squeegee to push water towards floor drains.
  • Track cheese tags for production records and batch sheets.
  • Account for raw cheese on the plant floor at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Understand the mechanical functions of grinding equipment.
  • Understand how to assemble and disassemble all cheese room equipment.
  • Safely open cheese blocks with knives and stack raw cheese on tables.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.
