Achieve daily departmental goals, safety practices, and production while working together as a team. This role involves operating machines, diagnosing and remedying minor machine problems, and reporting operating difficulties. The position is responsible for the quality of production, including inspection and separation of unacceptable work. It also requires meeting/exceeding production levels, safe operation and maintenance of machinery, performing minor preventative maintenance, moving materials, and keeping the work area clean and orderly. Record keeping and other related work responsibilities are also part of the job. The role may require working overtime. Safety is paramount, involving safe work practices, communicating Behavior Based Safety, wearing proper PPE, identifying, reporting, and resolving safety risks/hazards, and supporting 6-S 360 principles. Quality is built at the source to ensure specifications are met, involving collaboration to resolve non-conformances, initiating and following through with corrective actions, and diagnosing/problem-solving operational deficiencies. Checking completed work for hardness and visual inspection is also required. The role also participates in lean initiatives for continuous improvement, communicates and follows work instructions, ensures FIFO, and collaborates to ensure equipment uptime and efficiencies.
