About The Position

AltaGas is seeking an Operator for their North Pine Facility, located approximately 55 km northwest of Fort St. John, BC. This position will work in a team environment, taking direction from the Lead Operator, to support the safe and reliable operation of the facility and assist with day-to-day maintenance activities. The North Pine facility is designed to receive natural gas liquids from upstream supply sources and fractionate them into specification products, specifically propane, butane, and condensate. This is a Fort St. John-based position, with preference given to candidates currently living in the Fort St. John area or those willing to relocate. Daily transportation is provided from Fort St. John to and from the facility. The shift schedule for this role is a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation, working 12-hour shifts in a team environment, with the expectation that the Operator will participate in an alternating night shift rotation once training and competency requirements have been completed. Depending on experience, the annual base salary for this role is between $76,100 – $93,000/ year. Plant Operators are also provided various allowances in addition to their base salary and are eligible to participate in all benefits programs from day one.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate (preference given to candidates holding a 3rd Class)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A self-motivated, open-minded, safety-oriented mindset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Required safety certifications, including Intermediate First Aid, Transportation Endorsement, and H2S Alive
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

  • Gas plant or oil and gas industry experience is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all AltaGas policies, standards, procedures, and practices
  • Participate in a 12-hour alternating day/night shift schedule
  • Assist with the daily operations of the North Pine facility, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and reliability
  • Participate in safe work permitting, critical job checklists, and job hazard assessments
  • Assist in the safe and efficient execution of scheduled and unscheduled work, including operations tasks, equipment repairs, and maintenance
  • Identify, report, and help mitigate site hazards
  • Develop and follow safe operating procedures, consulting with senior site personnel prior to taking action
  • Maintain compliance with all mandatory safety training and OMS documentation requirements
