About The Position

The Operations Technician I performs various operations that support the production of parts. This role involves multiple finishing techniques such as belting/polishing, buffing, die grinding, blasting, and tumbling to achieve specified finishes on complex instruments for the large joint, spine, and trauma markets. The position also includes responsibilities for quality inspection, documentation, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform belting/polishing operations using conventional lathes to achieve specified finishes based on engineering drawings.
  • Execute buffing operations using conventional lathes and appropriate materials to meet specified finishes.
  • Utilize hand-held tools for die grinding, flapping, or detailing confined areas on parts.
  • Determine and use proper media and machine settings for blasting operations based on engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform mass finishing operations using centrifugal and vibratory equipment, selecting appropriate media, compound, and water flow.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and labor reporting transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure it is left clean for others.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions to the supervisor or lead.
  • Safely transport product using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using tools such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, measuring instruments, and surface plates.
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Follow designated safety rules and regulations, reinforcing safety expectations and ensuring safety operating practices are demonstrated.
  • Report issues/concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Perform weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
