About The Position

The Operations Support Technician performs essential duties to ensure the operational readiness of MEDIC units and the efficient management of medical equipment and supplies. This role involves detailed inventory management, restocking of emergency vehicles, assisting with crew changes, and maintaining accurate records of all supply and equipment activity. The technician is responsible for delivering and picking up necessary items, rebuilding supply bins, and handling medications while adhering to strict chain of custody protocols. Additionally, the role supports accreditation inspections, maintains a clean and organized workspace, and ensures all equipment and vehicles are in good condition. Professional communication, particularly via two-way radio, is crucial. The position requires the ability to work independently, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail to prevent any impact on patient care. Responding to emergency scenes with supplies and equipment may also be required. Overtime is considered an essential function of this role.

Requirements

  • Active NC/SC driver's license is required.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (G.E.D); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of EMS systems.
  • Must complete and pass MDD/CVOC driver training after hire.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, such as, but not limited to pallet jacks, ramps, ladders and dolly.

  • 2 or more years of previous full-time experience in the same or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unit inventories to ensure appropriate stocking levels of all MEDIC units, including ambulance, logistics vehicles, and any other units carrying medical equipment and/or supplies.
  • Check off and restock ALS and BLS units at the end of each shift to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist with crew changes of numerous units at various times.
  • Communicate with Operations Assistant during “rolling line-up” assignments.
  • Assist field crews with needs related to deployment.
  • Drive ambulance forward to shoreline or to the “ready line” during check-off.
  • Handle stock while keeping accurate records of all activity surrounding the flow of items received and distributed, using Agency’s Operative IQ software to track unit supplies and equipment.
  • Deliver and/or pick up equipment and supplies as needed to hospitals and posts.
  • Restock equipment boxes and rebuild supply bins.
  • Handle, log, and distribute numerous medications, including controlled substances, while maintaining chain of custody and performing drug counts.
  • Assist and perform inspections for accreditation (CAAS).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the upkeep of Agency equipment and vehicles when transporting vehicles or equipment.
  • Complete and document loss/damages of equipment or products.
  • Maintain professional communication, particularly while using two-way radio activity.
  • Attend periodic training meetings to stay informed of new policies, procedures, and equipment.
  • May be called upon to respond to an emergency scene.
  • Work with and without direct supervision.
  • Prepare ambulances for duty in treating the sick and injured.
  • May be called upon to bring supplies and equipment to an emergency scene.
