About The Position

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all employees follow proper safety rules and operating procedures. This role involves conducting daily audits, issuing work orders for maintenance, coordinating communications, and responding to safety incidents. The supervisor will also be responsible for completing and filing necessary documentation, assisting in employee training, and conducting safety meetings. In the absence of the Operations Manager, the supervisor will maintain company objectives and expectations and work closely with Operations to ensure high production levels.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of crane, coke unit, and heavy equipment
  • Experience in bulk materials, conveyor systems and heavy equipment
  • Experience interacting with an hourly, salary and client based workforce
  • Proven ability to focus on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers
  • Experience with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • High School Diploma required
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Efficient with standard office software programs (SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, Managers Plus)
  • Must be able to multi-task and set priorities
  • Ability to manage confidential issues
  • In person interviews require the candidate to be clean shaven, no exceptions

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees follow proper safety rules and operating procedures
  • Conduct daily audits of the overhead bridge crane and DCU
  • Issue frequent work orders to ensure the system is properly maintained
  • Coordinate communications to third parties involved
  • Respond to any unsafe or out of place event or condition immediately
  • Complete and file all necessary documentation as required including JHA’s, SHAPS, permits, log entries, safety meetings, audit sheets, daily check sheets
  • Assist in training of employees
  • Conduct and document frequent Safety and toolbox meetings
  • Maintain company objectives and expectations in the absence of the Operations Manager
  • Work closely with Operations to keep production levels high, systems
