About The Position

The Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting feed manufacturing operations to ensure products meet both company standards and customer expectations. This position involves working across all areas of the feed mill, including production, maintenance, and facility operations. Responsibilities include plant start-ups and shutdowns, receiving and batching ingredients, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, and load monitoring. This role requires flexibility to assist where needed, provide strong internal and external customer service, and actively support Mercer Landmark’s mission, goals, and values.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, customers, and contractors
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and WEM software
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
  • Forklift operation experience (or ability to obtain certification)
  • Valid, insurable driver’s license
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Commitment to working safely and efficiently

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily plant start-up and shutdown procedures
  • Receive and process incoming grain and ingredients
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
  • Complete general and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly inventory control processes
  • Work extended hours, including weekends, as needed
  • Provide support across departments and fill in during absences
  • Operate, test, and monitor equipment for daily production use
  • Measure and record ingredient inventory levels
  • Prepare and process hand-add ingredients
  • Fill micro bins and manage ingredient totes
  • Perform routine quality checks, including roller mill micron testing
  • Complete filter changes and other assigned maintenance tasks
  • Organize and track feed retain samples
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility
  • Participate in shift meetings and share key updates
  • Support preventative maintenance projects
  • Cross-train and work in multiple roles within the feed mill
  • Assist with weekly and month-end inventory counts
  • Train team members on feed mill operations as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
