About The Position

As an Operations Specialist Apprentice, the apprentice is responsible for completing all necessary coursework and on-the job training as outlined in the Ag Partners’ Operations Specialist Apprenticeship Appendix. The apprentice will be responsible for excellent customer service and assisting all departments by driving fertilizer tender truck, loading feed, filling anhydrous tanks, loading and unloading grain trucks, and general maintenance and housekeeping.

Requirements

  • Must have basic computer operation experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read aerial photo maps for proper field identification.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with a safe driving record.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience related to grain, feed, fertilizer, chemicals and/or farms supplies is preferred.
  • Apprentice is willing to learn how to operate ag production and other heavy equipment and be familiar with current farming practices.
  • Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes, or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
  • Preferred endorsements to obtain include haz-mat, air brake and tanker endorsements.

Responsibilities

  • Driving fertilizer tender truck.
  • Unloading and loading grain trucks.
  • Loading feed.
  • Filling anhydrous tanks and maintenance of anhydrous facilities.
  • Assisting with filling bunkers with grain at harvest.
  • Loading and unloading fertilizer.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, maintains clean work areas, and secures equipment and facilities when closing.
  • Providing a high level of customer service.
  • Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork.
  • Adherence to safety policies.
  • Adherence to cooperative credit policy.
  • Works with other cooperative staff at other locations to ensure cooperative goals are met.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance.
  • Promptly and regularly report to work and work overtime hours as needed.
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed.
